I have installed xubuntu 24.04 with no problems on my desktop
computer. But when I tried to install it on my laptop, the installer
crashed every time. I have tried 2 different USB drives, and
different USB sockets on the laptop. On each attempt the crash
happens at a different stage, and when I try starting the installer
from the command line, the error messages are different. I have never
had this problem when installing any other OS or version.
So instead I installed 22.04, which caused no problems at all. The
idea was then to upgrade that to 24.04.
https://wiki.xubuntu.org/releases/24.04/upgrading suggests that this
should be possible. If I change the settings in "Software and
Updates" to allow all releases it says I can upgrade to 23.10. But if
I ask only for LTS releases, it says there is nothing available.
So - can 22.04 be upgraded to 24.04, or can't it?
try installing 24.04 by editing the line on the screen and adding
noacpi after quiet splash. ie when it firsts boots up and you have a
choice of ways to install the system presse to edit the first choice
of the menu
