There hasn't been a public effort to support Updates in XQuery, but I
have spoken to Jonathan Robie who has shared with me a recommendation
paper for updates in XQuery.  It actually looks very good on the
surface.  I don't know if I'm able to share it with the group or not,
but if Jonathan is monitoring the list, I'll let him chime in.  If not,
it will probably be released in the near future.
