Well the current spec is stable (afaik). And there were discussion about
future extension. (see the archive) It IS active but so far nobody found
the time to make a proposal. (except of Toms ideas)

This is an interesting question and I don't know an answer so far. :-) The
working draft available at xmldb.org was/is a straight forward solution
that works. The Infozone/Prowler project uses Lexus (XUpdate implementation)
heavily.

In fact, these questions are very interesting and I would like to know
what other subscribers think. IMO, the discussions about XQuery is very
related to XML data bases even if the XQuery 'project' is maintained by
a W3C working group.
