I have tried xorgconfig now, and answered it's questions. When I choose which mode, no 1680x1050 entry shows up. There are 1400x1050, 1600x1200, etc to choose but no 1680x1050. That is a bit strange. Xorg.0.log shows detection of 1680x1050, right? It seems that this will not work. MoinakG said it didnt seem like a difficult problem, but he needed an ATI computer to debug. Maybe us Ati4850 owners have to wait until then. Now we have finally come to an conclusion, right? We can't get this card to work properly, as it is prefering VESA drivers. So now I can finally submit this conclusion as a comment in HCL. For filing bug, I will do that. Poor Alan, I bet he is alone. Thank you all for your efforts and time.
MoinakG, if you can get your hands on an ATI computer later, I would love to try out your new patched graphic driver. Just let me know. I have an old GeForce 7900 lying around here. Would it be possible to insert that also, and use that instead of my Ati4850? Two graphic cards in tandem, but only use GeForce in Solaris? This message posted from opensolaris.org
