I agree completely with you there; ask anyone at Sun - I've been one of the biggest agitators (and a continual thorn in several people's side) about continued open communication. But: 1) It's not necessarily clear to me that what Linda wants to talk about affects OpenSolaris (her message was overly broad). It very well could be. But even if it is..... 2) It could be regarding closed, confidential, or proprietary work - which would only jeopardise the people in attendence (including any people involved externally) > Remember, one of the perceptions OpenSolaris is trying to put to rest is > the "stuff happens behind closed doors at Sun that affect the > OpenSolaris community." I completely agree - but that should best be done with bodies of work that are completely open sourced (e.g.: JDS, or onnv-gate's usr/src tree). Work that is in question, or closed (such as some of the X OpenGL graphics work for SPARC that Linda was talking about) is best done in a manner which doesn't endanger the stakeholders. cheers, steve -- stephen lau // stevel at sun.com | 650.786.0845 | http://whacked.net opensolaris // solaris kernel development
