Note that the ffb2+ will only do 1600x1280 but not 1600x1200, thus rendering it practically useless for driving modern LCD screens beyond 1280x1024. If your CRT groks 1600x1280 you should be fine hardware-wise. In terms of X server I guess you're out of luck, like Alan "X Man" C. says.
