The machine itself runs like it should - very fast 2Ghz dualcore
AMD64
It's the X which is slow (-er than expected).
I began with installing the latest nevada (sxde) which give me
snv_70, that comes up OK
but it chooses the vesa driver. I've truied to get it working withe
both "ati" and "radeon" but they wont come up, because
they say its not supported (it has a built-in list - scanning known
cards)

I'll guess the person reported this to bigadmin just uses 1400x1050
