I think for the the x1600 you need the radeonhd driver, which isn't on Solaris
yet - although I do seem to remember Alan sending a pointer to a
"unsupported"[1] build of the driver, but I can't seem to find it, and I could
be totally wrong... ;)
Alan, am I mistaken?

[1] - unsupported = simply compiled the xorg driver, no real porting done and
not integrated or tested in OpenSolaris / Solaris yet - so use at own
risk.
