Did all of this testing and cannot find a combination that this works for. Do you have a copy of i915resolution that is ported to Solaris - can only find it for BSD and Linux.

The problem here is that the early Intel VBIOS doesn't tell the whole truth about resolutions to the X server. We used to use the fixup utility "i815resolution" (later renamed to i915resolution) to setup the VBIOS. That was back when there wasn't much love getting to the Intel graphics drivers. Today, at least with the newer gpus (945, 965), Intel has a large team working on the drivers. I had hoped that the older gpus would benefit from some of this forward work.
