The nv driver would be used on the S10U3 install (32 bit) and 
postinstall boot (32 bit)
since the NVIDIA driver is not bundled until U4.  The nv driver will be
used on SXCE b65 install (32 bit), but the NVIDIA driver (64 bit) will 
be used
post install.

Since the X server did not start also on S10U3 and there was a keyboard 
issue,
what additional clue is there this is a problem unique to SXCE b65 or has
anything to do with the graphics card?

FWIW, SXCE b65 and b66 had no issues installing or booting afterwards
on a my U40M2 with FX 5500.  However, I don't have a Sun keyboard connected
to this system.
