You could  try generating xorg.conf file by running 
/usr/bin/nvidia-xconfig  while in failsafe mode and see if that gives 
any better error message in /var/log/Xorg.0.log when you restart X.

If above doesnt help try relogging in safe mode and reinstalling the 
nvidia drivers from http://www.nvidia.com/object/unix.html *Solaris 
x64/x86* Latest Version: 1.0-9755 
<http://www.nvidia.com/object/solaris_display_1.0-9755.html> reboot is 
necessary after this.
