Chiara Modenese proposed the following answer: @Bruno If you increase density and at the same time reduce the strain rate so that the total time is unchanged, then clearly there is no speed-up, as you already say. Either one increases the density OR the strain rate, it is equivalent. Maybe increasing the strain rate, rather than the density, sounds more reasonable but I can assure you that the result would be the same (dimensional analysis can prove it).
