To my understanding, rolling resistance = bending resistance + twisting
resistance (in 2d, only bending resistance). You can imagine a surface
contact (not point contact) in reality, there exist not only bending
moment but torque as well. So a complete picture of the model should
have Kb for bending stiffness and Ktw for twisting stiffness. For
irregular shape particles, should be more complicate, e.g.  different Kb
in two tangential directions. Any way, many people also use Kb=Ktw for
simplicity. You can also check source code to see how the model is
implemented.
