If you don't have a 3rd party firewall.. don't use Microsoft's firewall since it's not really all that good... you can get a free one from Comodo which is a full functioning pro version... it's the one I'm currently using but I've also used ZoneAlarm and Sunbelt Kerio in the past. Comodo is the top rated free firewall out there right now. At least with a good firewall, you'll be able to stop any malware on your computer from getting onto the internet and it will alert you when something is trying to access the internet that you did not start.
As far as the unknown "person" sending you IM's, that's a very common occurrence. I get about a dozen IM's every day from unknown YM'ers and most of them are spam-bots. If you reply, they'll try to get you to click a link or maybe they'll just add your name and yahoo email address to a list of good names/addresses to send more spam to. You really need to learn more about computer security though. Folks should not be going online with under secured computers. That is the reason there is so much email spam and spam-bots in chat rooms, etc.... people get infected with stuff that turns their computers into zombies and every time they connect to the internet, their computers start sending spam and spim (spam IM's). I personally wish that ISP's wouldn't allow people with under secured computers from even getting on the net since it means I have to run all kinds of added security to protect my computer from the irresponsible people on the net with little or no security and then they get infected by malware and then their computers try to infect everyone else on the net. I just decided to do a Google on "dungcoi" http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=dungcoi and got 50 hits of people asking how to rid their computers of dungcoi or dungcoi vb so there is a very likely chance that you have a virus or trojan. I have E Trust Antivirus. I appreciate your suggestions. Some of them are over my head, but I'll see what I can do. In the meantime, if anyone else has had experience with my specific problem, i.e. dungcoi_vb, I'd appreciate more specific advice. --- In [email protected] <mailto:Yahoo_Messenger%40yahoogroups.com> , "LNVTM1" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: > > Sounds like you might have a YM related virus or other malware.
