I think I'm going to have to update my article about Yahoo Messenger on my
blog to try and encourage people to avoid all the plug-ins. Just like with
any program, when you start adding all kinds of plug-ins, they usually cause
problems for the main program. I see this in tech groups for things like
Outlook, various browsers, etc. Toolbars, plug-ins, add-ons, etc., will
only cause bloat and conflicts to the main program.

There are already far too many other media players out there trying to
infest peoples computers... YM does not need yet another one. The problems
with media players is that they all want to make themselves the "default"
player by default so when you install it, it then tries to change all of
your pre-existing settings. QuickTime, RealPlayer and other players are
notorious for this and will then cause all kinds of problems and then they
all want to add themselves to the StartUp folder so all of these new
processes are added to the startup and shutdown of the machine just slowing
it down and adding a lot of unnecessary bloat.

I believe you are partly correct about WMP and Yahoo Messenger problems
being related. Yahoo Messenger 9, I believe, has it's own media player
built-in. This could cause a conflict especially if you also have other
media players installed. Also Messenger 9 has several bugs, I have heard
they have just released an update. I suggest you uninstall Yahoo Messenger,
then run a registry cleaner such as EasyCleaner or CCleaner (both are free).
Then download and install a full version (not the one at the Yahoo Messenger
site). I suggest FileHippo as a source as they are usually up-to-date.
Messenger 9.0.0.21112 <http://www.filehippo.com/download_yahoo_messenger/>
will take you there. Please note the link will not download anything but
will take you to the download location. You can even try a previous version.

I have the current version of Yahoo Messenger, and when I say I
cannot
see the text, I mean when the IM box pops up for and incoming
message,
I cannot see the text AT ALL. I have also sent an email to Microsoft
because of a problem with Windows Media Player not working, which I
believe may be part of the reason Yahoo is not working.
