Most of the bugs that happen in YM can not be easily fixed. They are
usually due to a faulty install, missing .dll files lost/corrupted in the
download, etc..

The best thing to do if you have a buggy installation is to do a full
uninstall, registry cleanup, then do a FULL version download (instead of the
Installer Version from Yahoo) from one of the reliable 3rd party download
sites like FileHippo.com, Download.com, etc.

After the download (scan it for viruses just in case), turn off your
firewall and/or other security programs and then install YM. I have more
detailed instructions on how I do it for myself and dozens of others on my
blog article referenced below in my earlier post.

I looked at some of the other web pages about this issue (found with Google)
and it seems others are starting out OK but then it switches to the double
cam image on one of the computers. This could either be do to a glitch in
YM as it seems to be happening with ONLY the latest release of YM... or it
could also be something to do with all the server farm issues that Yahoo has
been having since they have been moving their server farms to new locations.

Since it's so hard to fix an actual glitch in YM, that is why I wrote that
blog article a couple of years ago as doing a clean install is the only
thing that has worked for me when I have a buggy YM. I'm about to uninstall
YM on my main computer and do a reinstall since mine is starting to act
buggy... of course, it could be the Yahoo Servers for my issues as well. I
still use YM 8.1x on my main computer but have upgraded to 9.0x on my Vista
Laptop but I haven't tried a cam on that computer yet since my current cam
will not run on Vista.

That is exactly what I am saying.....this happens when I do the inviting. I
never thought about having somebody invite me first...I will try that. I
installed Yahoo 9.0 directly from the Yahoo website, no 3rd parties. I did
a Google search on Yahoo IM double images and it looks like I'm not the
only one to have the problem, but there has been no solutions either.

When I do a cam-conference and turn on my cam, it shows my image on my
computer. When the other person turns on their cam, it opens in a separate
window and shows their image.

Are you saying that when they turn on their camera and send you an invite,
you see yourself?

Try NOT turning on your own cam first and just accept their invite to see
what happens. Maybe even properly unplug your cam to make sure your cam
isn't getting turned on inadvertently from their invite. I'm not sure how
that could happen but I guess if you have a bad install, anything is
possible.

How did you do the install of YM 9.0x? Did you just use the YM Installer
from Yahoo or did you download a FULL version from one of the many 3rd party
download sites like FileHippo.com, OldVersion.com or Download.com, etc..

See my blog article
http://lennyvasbinder.blogspot.com/2007/11/how-i-always-do-clean-instal-ofl-
yahoo.html on how to do a clean uninstall and full re-install of YM and try
the directions there to see if that fixes your issue. If you used the Yahoo
Installer, that will often lead to many of the problems/glitches that occur
with YM.

Subject: [Y!M] Webcam Double Image

Can somebody please help? I downloaded the latest version of Yahoo IM and
when I use the webcam I get a double image. Meaning the person that I am
suppose to see on the other end I can't because it shows my image instead.
I tried going back to Yahoo IM 8.1, no help. I ran all virus checkers, no
viruses. I have used Yahoo IM for years and have never had this happen. I
have used 2 different webcams and the problem still exist. I can't get a
hold of yahoo tech support on the phone, I guess they don't exist either. I
have hotmail too and I don't have a problem there so this has to be specific
to Yahoo. I sure hope somebody has resolved this issue, I would hate to stop
using Yahoo :-(
