They claimto be democrats how come they did not respect democratic
elections?These people were defeated in Polokwane and they did not accept
theleadership that won in December. My question is will they be able toaccept
the elections result next year? I think they will not acceptthem. They will
complain and make claims that elections were not freeand fair, that they were
threatened by the party in government whichis the African National Congress.
This claim will not be new as theUnited Democratic Movement had claimed in the
past. The second pointis that these people do not or not want to understand
the documenttitled ?Through the eye of the needle? when it says that to be
anAfrican National Congress leader in not an entitlement. People likeLekota and
Shilowa have stayed in power for so long that they thoughtthey have an absolute
right and that they are entitled to be leadersof the ANC. This is
characteristic of many of the heroes ofliberation movements in Africa. Thirdly,
these people are very muchconcerned not in serving the poorest of the poor
people but ofservicing their stomachs. As Smuts Ngonyama had said that he
?neverjoined the struggle to be poor.? Finally we see so-calledintellectuals
being involved with this new party, person like BarneyPityana who is an
academic giant but a political dwarf. He onceclaimed that he was an ANC member
without a valid membership. How cana person be a member without a valid
