Cde Sabelo, You see as much as we want to claim that our discussion in Alliance are that of the Branches of the ANC. The ANCYL President was right on the issue of Quotas. I am a hard Communist and believe that the only stick you could have over deployees who are deployed by the ANC Branches and not Alliances to leadership should be accountable to the Branches. You could not want to advocate for Quotas while without the same quotas our own Communist leaders makes it to the leadership of the ANC NEC. Not because they are Communist but because they are ANC members foremost. Unless the Communist goes its own way there is no way a Quota framework will be accepted by ANC Branches. In order to have this same Quota Accepted, we have to flood the Branches of ANC as Communist and then shape the directions the ANC ought to take. The Motive forces of the ANC remain the working class and as such there is no need for Preferential Treatment of Cdes.
I am making this point to illustrate the diverse view among Communist around the issue of quota in terms of representation. In the same quota discussion, as the ANCYL we will requires our own Quota too let alone the already over representation of women. The problem with cdes is to view Julius views as they are his. The message he was conveying is a ANCYL views around quota and in my Branch this issue will not fly even if I push it,. You know why because Communist are not members of the ANC and want a special treatment while the platform does exist for us to influence from within. The mechanism on how Communist behave cannot be issue of the ANCYL and ANC but SACP matters. The question is how is Gwede doing since taking over thye rein both as Chairperson and SG of the SACP and ANC Respectively. Because Julius said what we do not want to hear, we brand him irresponsible? The question around leadership quota is very sensitive and as communist we are missing the point, lets contest hegemony in the ANC and then take a lead. In doing so we should not feel irritated by the views of those who do share the common destination with us. The ANC has been and remain the Broad Church wherein ideological battle are waged. There is nothing stoping us to contest the space than this leisure faire approach of wanting to have Socialism in Silver Platter.
