I would like to express the world of sympathy and condolences to all
cadres who were injured or suffered, and lost their loved ones during
the weekend of the ANC and IFP Rallies in Nongoma. But I want to state
it categorically and boldly that it came without any surprise to me that
the violence took place. The IFP is not prepared to loose that place,
such that they are prepared to kill, and make the province stand still.
It will be remembered that they did the very same thing to our party
agents and volunteers during 2006 local government elections. They
always regard ULundi and Nongoma as their 'strongest hold' but they
forget that the wheel changes everyday. They were shocked when the ANC
won the other part of T Section of Umlazi (SEVENTEEN) in 2006 local
government elections. The very same thing happened in Dunhouser recently
during by-elections.

I want to say to Mncwango the IFP leader, stop defending violence. He
(Mncwango) gave a clear mandate to the Youth Brigade and SADESMO to
assault the PYA comrades in Mangosuthu University of Technology during
the name change discussions in 2007. He also instigated and perpetuated
the vandalism of the robots and street on the name change debate of
Mangosuthu High Way. To honorable Mangosuthu Gatsha Buthelezi I want to
say shame. You will remember during Asikhulume Talk Show few weeks back,
He said "if people call him Gatsha they make people of the IFP to
fight..." That statement is against the current enjoyable democratic
principles. We respect our leaders and we call them with their original
names which are reflected in their Identity documents i.e. Nelson
Rolihlahla Dalibunga Mandela. What is it that is behind the name Gatsha;
tell us we want to know? Why was it not removed from the ID if he does
not like it and if it makes people to fight? The IFP must allow all
parties to campaign in ULundi and Nongoma as they were allowed to
campaign in Willowfountein (strong hold of the ANC) in 2006. This is the
normal democratic order we fought for. We told the IFP that they will
regret their practices. The people need services not anarchy, neither
insults nor assaults.
