Comrades and Compatriots, Socialist, Communists and aspiring Communists.
i have read the letter from Cde Takalani with regard to the situation in VUT, i must admit, i feel his apin, i feel his frustrations. WE are speaking solidarity, we are pseaking working together with an aim of education transformation in this country, those a re great concepts, but what do they really mean, are we, Comrades speaking nothing but big english or are we really willing and able to put our energies where our at times loud mouths are. I know this sounds harsh, but let me give a background of which angle am i coming from, then perehaps you will see why i need to tell it like it is. The previous year, the North West University's Mafikeng Campus which i am a student at, went through a series of mass actions, the campus was burned couple of times. it was hell to be a student here, this campus was a battle zone, police were here, the management went to hire a security company which ended up brutalising studetns, whether political or not, this all in my opinion was an attempt to cower students into silence. Ultimately when the country started to speak about our fate and parents demanding answers, the Ministerial Task team headed by Dr.J.Phahla was appointed, those all you Comarades, but this is what you do not know... All the suspended and expelled students to what we named management reactionary disciplinary committee are still out of the University system, some of them, their life have got to a stand still and non-progressive, you know why, because they had gutts to stand up and speak on behalf of 7000+ students. What did the world do, kept silent and wished it will all go away, to some Comrades out there it has went away because it is no longer on the media, but to us, it is still very much part of our reality out there. I am speaking to you now, instead of upadatiing the Library, we have new high-must lights with cameras in installation, and you knwo wha is an excuse, the are trying to uplift security on campus. Students are still without some lecturers, the faculties are moribund, the Library still non-user friendly and noone is speaking because, those that are still in the system are either bought or cowered into silence .... To me, Comrade Takani is an unsung Hero, because i and couple of my fellow servants have went through what he is going through and our cry to an outside world was unheard, so much that we ended up been labelled holigans, Holigans because we needed a Library and Quality education, the one that is on par with our so called "sister Campus" at Potchefstroom. Its amazing that Comrade and leaders get into the organizational meetings and speak boldly about mergers that are not working, challenges in institution of Higher learnings, but beyond those talks, i personally cannot say, i have seen targent support to the comrades leading structures at branch level. you struggle with finances, you struggle with cadreship development, you struggle with life of an organization and you also struggle with you own self, as if that is not enpugh, you also get to struggle in fighting a capitalistic master from isolation, no back up, no advice, no sureties. how in the world are we suppose to be building this organzation at grass roots level where it matters the most, really now. no wonder, comrades end up being the pons to higher structures leadership. i would like to say, Comrade Takalani, even if i cannot do anything much, my leader, i understand what you are going through and i am prepared to aassist where i can. It is the inactviness of those who could have acted, the silence of those who could have spoken, that resulted in evil to triumph-Emperor Haile Sailes Comrades need to be reburked because if noone does that, then we a re not going to reach our destiny to soccialism in the next century and that would have meant to my great-gandson that, i fought for fiction and thereofor lost, as a result, the capitalist master have dominated his life to the point beyond his own recognition as an african.. I still am Lebo "Caoch" Molopyane. Branch secreatary of YCL-SA NWU-Mafikeng Campus. 073 980 8171 _________________________________________________________________ Windows Liveā¢: Keep your life in sync. http://windowslive.com/explore?ocid=TXT_TAGLM_WL_BR_life_in_synch_062009 --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You are subscribed.
