Cdes

It is unfortunate and regrettable that an important discussion on the
transformation the economy could degenerate in such a way. Leaders of the
allaince and its members hurling insults at each other without addressing the
matter under discussion. Julius Malema is attributed to have said the SACP
Deputy General Secretary Jeremy Cronin is a white messiah and that the YCL does
not have progammes and membership. All of his statements are untrue and
unfounded and clearly have nothing to do with debate on nationalisation to
which the ANCYL raised.

I am also concerned of the notion that Communists want to take over the ANC,
this a statement attributed to Malema again. Where does all of this come from?
And why is Malema not appreciating the strategic relevance of the allaince? The
SACP cannot takeover the ANC but the SACP will ,as it must influence the ANC's
policies & programmes as it leads the allaince and state to better the lives of
the working class and the poor. By the way SACP & YCL members are members of
the ANC and are prepared to defend (& defending) the ANC from the real class
enemy that of monopoly capital and bourgoesie tendencies seeking to hijack the
ANC to further their cause of enrichment at the expense of the poor.

The dabate was and it must remain on how do we ensure that the economy is
placed at the hands of the people to address their needs amongst other
things. It was and must be around nationalisation and/or socialisation. How do
we socialise all commanding heights of the economy be it mines and banks and so
on. The issues around the transformation of the economy can be heated because
they remain contested by those who hold divergent views both on the left and
right. It is good to note that from those on the progressive side within the
allaince all agree that the status quo cannot remain as it is. The fundamental
question remains whether do we nationalise or socialise all the commanding
heights of the economy not just the mines?

Let us engage maqabane.

Subject: [YCLSA Discussion] The YCLSA Gauteng’s response to attacks on YCLSA
and SACP leaders by one Julius Malema

The YCLSA Gauteng’s response to attacks on YCLSA and SACP leaders by one Julius
Malema

25 November 2009

The Young Communist League of South Africa (YCLSA) in the province of Gauteng
notes the continued weak attacks of the YCLSA and SACP leaders by one loosely
structured Julius Malema who suffers from verbal diarrhoea. In an article that
appeared in a daily newspaper Sowetan, on Monday 23 November 2009, Julius is
attributed to be saying that the YCLSA does not have a programme of its own and
membership. If this is true it would not be the first time without any success
that Julius attempts to kill for his handlers all YCLSA members. As such we
have no reason to be afraid of him. Julius is also attributed to be levelling a
meaningless allegation that communists, and by extension the YCLSA, want to
turn the ANC into a Communist Party.

To set the record straight, the YCLSA is alive, has a programme and not just
members, but quality members, well trained activists who can provide Julius
with the political education he direly needs.

To mention but at least only two components of the YCLSA programme that are
aimed at securing the momentary interests of young workers: in line with the
2008 National Alliance Summit resolutions we have been actively campaigning for
a review of all outsourced services with an intention to bring them back into
government; we have also been campaigning for the abolition of labour brokers.
In this for instance as the YCLSA in Gauteng we have zealously as a reliant
force been working together with the South African Trade Unions (COSATU), some
of its affiliates, South African Student Congress (SASCO), Congress of South
African Students (COSAS) and the many young workers who suffer from the
brutality of labour brokers. This includes young workers whose work is
outsourced from government. By the way Julius is a tender-preneur, not a
genuine entrepreneur but a parasitic petty capitalist who relies on political
proximity to different spheres of government and
 associated tenders.

We have no reason to be threatened by a disrespectful Julius’s empty rhetoric
that is aimed at entrenching accumulation from taxpayers’ monies through an
attempt to derail the National Democratic Revolution (NDR) into a Tenderlution
(T) – parasitic capitalist struggle for survival from tenders. We support all
parents to continue motivating their children; and all young people, Black and
White to, prioritise education. We call on all parents to intensify efforts in
teaching their children the dangers of learning from Julius.

As the YCLSA in Gauteng we will be convening in our 11th Provincial Executive
Committee (PEC) Plenary Session from the 4th – 5th December 2009.
Organisational and political issues that our PEC will deal with include a
re-emerging trend from within our ANC-led National Liberation Movement (NLM) to
isolate ANC-SACP members with an intention of suppressing and denying them or
curtailing their participation rights. In this regard we shall comprehensively
respond by all means at our disposal to anti-communists and anti-trade
unionists agenda that Julius, his handlers and others have adopted. We shall
defend our ANC-led NLM from being hijacked for narrow, patronage-based and
self-centred capitalist interests that will stop at nothing including to abuse
funerals to pursue its agenda.

We remain committed to a genuine call for the nationalisation and
socialisation, not only of mines, but of all our country’s strategic resources
and services including service delivery.
