Cdes,
I have patiently followed the discussion around the public spats by our leaders. I warned before when Cde Julius attacked Cde Mbeki, Cde Naledi, Cde Skweyiya and others that this set a tone of suppressing debates. Many of participants in this forum at that time ridiculed me and was even called names and given membership of an organisation that I never thought of supporting.
Today, the same Julius is again continuing with his ultra-arrogance and it is the same comrades who supported him before that they see anything wrong with his unbecoming public statements. The only way views are suppressed is when those who differs with a certain view are insulted for their dissent.
I have deliberately distinguished between the debate on nationalisation of mines and that of uncomradely public spat because I found them totally different. The nationalisation issue is organisational while the spats are personal. However, I am convinced that Cde Jeremy is the one who erred first but the tone of the response to his err was far against what the ANC and Alliance stand for.
One should not be white to be a racist. On the Eskom issue, Julius uttered rather a racist statement levelled at our Godsell. In the Reitz issue, Julius supported a reactionary reconciliatory approch because Prof Jansen is black. In this case, Julius attacked Cde Jeremy because of colour. It then left me with one conclusion that Cde Julius is playing a race card or rather is a racist.
The mistake that many comrade make is that they believe all progressive organisations are inherently progressive and permanently progressive. If you nationalise by buying out, at whose interest will this nationalisation be? It is therefore not correct to assume that nationalisation will solely be to the benefit of the poor because it can also be at the expense of the poor.
I think that one day Cde Jeremy will apologize for hi "bling" statement and Cde Julius can learn that debates are not about intimidating the other participants of the debate but rather are about to reach the highest level of synthesis. The public spats, I agree with other comrades, have diverted the intellectualism that should have been displayed throughout this all important debate of shifting our economic policies to suit the plight of the poor.
Cde Kgalema once warned that the ANC government can be able to provide free education and access to clean water if two mines can be nationalised. The question should then be: How do we nationalise without putting the governement in lot of debts that will ultimately be suffered and paid by the people? How many mines should be nationalised? Which mines should be nationalised first (priority or gradual) so that we pilot this all important milestone i n the history of our country?
Comrades STOP IT!!! NOW!!! Julius was out of line to insult a senior cde in that manner. Next week he is going to insult cde Zuma if nothing is done to discipline him by the ANC NEC.
He may be the president of the ANC but he must not forget as to who are the constituencies of the ANC. This boy has shamed us long standing cadres by turning to insulting engagements rather than using productive ones.
I do not believe that i have any respect left for the chairperson of the youth league but i now only respect the chair of the chairperson!!! If Julius wants our respect as ANC cadres, he must start behaving like an ANC member or else...!
People like Julius should have been Inkatha Card carrying members as he seems to share quite a lot with those lumpens. He has raised issues of serious importance in terms of how leaders are supposed to listen to the masses. Leaders must not carry their own mandate.
Julius is not carrying our mandate as ANC cadres by going around trying to destroy the alliance.
If Julius cannot behave like a normal person, we will however be forced as members to force him out and believe me we as cadres are not new to the revolution.
It is in fact not justified for Julius and Cronin to argue in public in this manner. The arguing should have been done constructively behind the scenes and not in public.
I strongly blame Julius for having tea with reporters at the expense of the SACP. Julius is not GOD...We could always get rid of him. Maybe this boy forgets as to what is the ANCYL and who made him president of the youth league!!!!
One thing this boy must know is that the ANCYL is not his grandmothers' garage church or stokvel!!!
This boy speaks of divisions within the party and alliance but he also forgets to mention his name in the process. He is the one that divides rather than building the relations of the alliance.
Amandla!!!!
