The revolution never ends but it changes shape. As the young communist league we are faced with an enormous task of mobilizing young people behind the banner of the working class. As the vanguard of the working class youth we have to absorb all best elements of the working class youth, their experiences, their revolutionary spirit, their selflessness devotion to the cause of the proletariat.
But in order for us to be the vanguard of the youth movement We need to come up with a clear program of action for political school for our comrades; our comrades need to be armed with revolutionary theory, with knowledge of the laws of movement, with knowledge of the law of the revolution. We need to effectively deal with the effects of capitalism of divide and rule which seek to set brother and sister against brother and sister rendering them totally disorganized and isolated. We need to deal away with what MARX termed alienation or self estrangement caused by capitalism. We need also to urge our members and orientate our branches that only mass political power secured through mass action could guarantee the realization of dynamic reforms or seize power. As the YCL we require a new form of activism that is responsible, informed, strategic and visionary and which covers all levels of modern society. We need to sell our ideals, advance our science and not our dogmas We need to communicate our morality and not our vices. We need to nurture our political art and not our corruption. Therefore the notion of a strong NEC has to come to an end We urgently need strong, vibrant branches. The YCL makes one remember the party of 1921 were the party had 733.000 members compared to 24000 members they had in 1917. The vast majorities of these members had only a nodding acquaintance with Marxism, and were quite incapable of following the subtleties of the debate among the elite. They all knew what they wanted namely socialism, which promised them everything they longed for, but how was it to be realized that's were they failed. It was a triumph of principle, a failure of practice (Mbeki, umrabulo number 24) this state is the state of our branches through out the provinces.
