I am asking this question,because yesterday when National Union of Mineworkers,Energy Sector woorkers under the Leadership of Comrade Job Matsepe handed memorandum to Eskom Management,it was deemed illegal by the Courts of South Africa. The poor workers are deemed essential while their salaries is not essential.How can you say a clerk doing adminstration work as essential job,yes they are important on day to day running of a certain department by not essential.In the absent of no agreement workers cannot be essential.Workers are leaving in sub standards housing and do not qualify for RDP house,on the other cannot be granted loans by banks,because their salary bracket is very low.These workers are caught in between the rhino horns.
Media also play a role in misinforming the public about real issues,well done once more to them.Workers need to have their own TV and Radio channel to engage robustly on issues affecting them. I am of the view that NUM support the World Cup,hence all stadia completed on time,but workers rights cannot be compomised due to the World Cup.Workers want to see the successful games,hence boosting confidence to investers.
