The only formations which rejected GEAR were COSATU and SASCO. Thanks to Cde Floyd for revealing such an archive, we have been misled that the Party discarded this policy whist its not the case. It simply suggests that at some stage role of vanguardism if not appropriately played by real revolutionaries can be problematic and jeopardise the aspirations of the working class and the poor. The presence of vanguardism has been exhibited in many case including Public Sector strike where working class had vanguarded itself in the absence of the party. What they currently know best si vulgarised MTV not the MTV we know.
I have long time raised this matter that the alliance members had an agreement around the question of GEAR Policy,but argued that perhaps it might have been the wrong communist within which at that time were in majority or the they were coerced to agree but they had welcomed GEAR. Atleast today is clear that this statement is found to be existing,like i said the 96 class project was consulting the alliance partners,and it cant be true that no one was consulted on the matter,we might have had different views on the policy but the consultation took place.Even the archives of SASCO locates that such consultation was made by TM when he was DP,but the congress differred with it to the latter at its congress,one can check with Cde J Mamabolo, so that project was well welcomed by the alliance partners but like im saying perhaps it was only few within which were very hegemonic within. What Cde Floyd has raised seems to me to be a fact that the SACP did welcome and support Gear in 1996 then I was not a member of the party I was a member of the ANCYL and Cosas, but the same SACP potrayed Gear as a Class Project which doesn't address fundamental challenges of the working class in particular the poorest of the poor, Cdes we were made to believe that analysis is correct however who should be the vanguard of the working class if our SACP did accept and welcome GEAR thanks to archives. Even today many comrades of the movement are witch-hunted because they are ass ociated with this Project. Comrades on the 4th Feb 2011 when I was listening to the presentation of the New Growth Path I wrote on my facebook status that I sse no difference with Gear. So it is not suprising if we as communists have welcomed uGear in 1996 why can't adopt Growth Path? I then today plead to comrades to analyse this as our beloved GS has said in Mafikeng " It is a good habit.........". As of neo liberal tendencies comrades must not just say the Cde was not suppose to say that, it is his view and if one differs he or she must engage and prove to Floyd why he/she disagree of this tendency within SACP. To me comrades this is a contradiction of what the communist party should it be.
