Cdes, I have a bit of a serious concern with his appoitnment particilarly when
he said, he belives God wants him to be CJ!!is he then not going to listen to
his God when executing his duties and make odd decisions that are
unconstitutional? Can someone conform if its true that he actually was the
president's fourth choice?

I agree with cde Gwede about the stand of Cosatu on Justice Mogoeng issue,
and that those who oppose the selection of Mogoeng

are against President Zuma not the person opointed, Cosatu must refrain from
this and is not the first time our leaders in Cosatu make

these populist statement unnecesarily, just for them to be seen deffering
with the views of the ANC where such is not neccesary.

ANC wants 'Malema culprits' identified

September 2011

THE African National Congress (ANC) has instructed its provincial leaders to
track down the "culprits" who travelled to Johannesburg last week to protest
outside Luthuli House in support of ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema.

This emerged yesterday when the ANC's provincial leadership in the North West
read out a statement -- which they said was a joint initiative with Luthuli
House -- threatening action against those involved in the pro-Julius Malema
demonstrations.

The move could indicate that the ANC leadership is tightening its grip on the
party ahead of a showdown with the youth league president who, along with five
others, faces charges of bringing the ANC into disrepute.

"The provincial executive committee will use all means at (its) disposal to
ensure the culprits of these hideous acts are brought to book," provincial
secretary Kabelo Mataboge said at a media briefing in Mafikeng. "We call upon
the general membership of the ANC with knowledge of these occurrences and
culprits thereof to approach the structures of the organisation."

Last night ANC secretary-general Gwede Mantashe defended the decision to
charge its youth wing leaders, saying it was the leaders' duty to restore
discipline in the party. "We must do that in line with the culture and the
rules of the movement."

Mr Mantashe said the ANC's national working committee, which met yesterday,
had condemned the protest, concluding it was "uncalled for and calculated to
undermine the internal organisational processes to uphold disciplined conduct
of its members".

The committee also condemned the burning of T-shirts bearing President Jacob
Zuma 's face.

At a congress of the Food and Allied Workers Union Mr Mantashe also urged
members to swell the ranks of the ANC to protect it from elite groups with
power and money. "Those with money create bookmakers. You cannot run a
liberation movement through bookmakers."

Mr Mantashe said the aim of those who wanted leadership change was to install
leaders who would create space for self-enrichment.

He also criticised the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu),
saying its objection to Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng's nomination for the chief
justice post was a proxy war against Mr Zuma.

Mr Mantashe said Justice Mogoeng's nomination was a correct decision. "That
fight about Mogoeng has nothing to do with Mogoeng. It is a proxy war against
Zuma, the president of the ANC."

Cosatu's position on Justice Mogoeng was wrong, Mr Mantashe said. He also
made reference to alliance forces that sought to undermine any decision taken
by the ANC. "They want to prove to the world that Zuma can't take proper
decisions but he continues to surprise them."

Earlier in the day South African Communist Party deputy general secretary
Jeremy Cronin called on the ANC to act "firmly" against the leadership of its
youth league. "The ANC must provide leadership. It must assert its authority
they (the youth league leaders) must be taught with firmness."

Without mentioning names, Mr Cronin said the ANC must deal with people who
undermined the party's principle of nonracialism.

One of the charges Mr Malema is facing is that he referred to white people as
thieves during an election rally this year.

Mr Cronin said anyone who did not uphold the principle of nonracialism "does
not belong in our alliance". He said the league was part of anticommunist
forces, including demagogues and populists who spoke the language of the
left.

"These people talk of nationalisation without understanding the mining
sector, without talking to the National Union of Mineworkers."

Mr Mataboge said support for Mr Malema and the protests outside Luthuli House
were a "noble cause that was hijacked by forces that might not even identify
with the youth league or the ANC".
