as much as most of us might not agree with the way the old man expressed himself; we need to remember that; everyone is entitled to freedom of expression and Desmond Tutu had the right to emotionally express his disappointment and this should not be looked at using the approach that he is an anticommunist...when something is wrong it is wrong, two wrongs don't make a right cdes.

As the organisation we are aware that it was the Dalai Lama not the South African government that withdrawn the Visa application. If the Dalai Lama wanted to attend the birth day party of Archbishop Tutu he would have not withdrawn his application. While it could be true that Tutu did try to mobilise support against apartheid regime but the fact of the matter is that his influence today is but an imaginary figment of those who believe in his empty rhetoric. Over years we have been bombarded by Desmond Tutu’s bragging and grand standing about his role and prayers during apartheid. Let us remind the old man that our democracy is written in the blood of heroes and heroines of our struggle who devoted their lives in the cause of freedom. We recognise and appreciate the fact that the Archbishop spent days in his bedroom praying for the downfall of Apartheid government, but our democracy is also as a result of the sacrifice by comrades such as Chris Hani, Solomon Mahlangu and many others in their generation. While also acknowledging the so-called joint forces of democracy that converged and publicly denounced our government for “delaying” a visa application of the said religious-cum-political activist from Tibet, we also acknowledge their silence and passive posture on egalitarian transformation and dislodging of white-minority-monopoly capital which continues to characterise and dominate our economic inequalities. Now, we should allow our democratically elected government to deliver on its election manifesto and on its electoral mandate instead of being caught into a popularity wagon driven by self-anointed voices of the voiceless who ride on emotional fallacy as a guise to resuscitate their individualistic aggrandisement based on cheap talk.
