Here are the “golden” tips

· Winning formula: simplicity, brevity, accuracy

· In a press release, the headline should tell the journalist what
it is about and if possible the strongest point being made

· If not contained in the headline, the strongest point and most
important facts should be contained as close to the top as possible.

· Use the Who, What, Why, When, Where, How formula to make sure all
the relevant facts are contained.

· Clear, simple, concise sentences. Try to restrict yourself to one
idea per sentence (average 20 words per sentence).

· Keep press releases to one page if possible (three to six
paragraphs)

· State clearly who the press release is to and where it is from

· Discard unrelated or unnecessary information

· Don’t state the obvious - nobody has the time
