27 October 2014 SADTU shocked by the untimely demise of SA's great athletes The South African Democratic Teachers' Union (SADTU) wants to join the multitudes of South Africans in expressing our shock over the untimely demise of the Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa at the hands of criminals. Meyiwa was indeed a role model to many South African learners and his demise is a great loss to the sports fraternity in its entirety. We are calling on the police to act promptly and bring those responsible for this act to book. We are also saddened by the loss of another great athlete, Mbulaeni Mulaudzi who was killed in a car accident. Mulaudzi was the first black South African to be ranked number 1 in the world in his code of track. Athletics and the local athletics scene are certainly poorer without him. We want to express our deepest and sincerest condolences to the families of these two great ambassadors of South African sports. May their souls rest in peace.
