I noticed this trick as well. But as you mentioned, its not 
efficient at all. Looping through a network of 300 friends will take 
forever.

How hard could this be to build for the delicious team:

http://del.icio.us/feeds/json/network/[USER_ID]/[TAGS_TO_SEARCH]

... and have a variant as well ...

http://del.icio.us/feeds/json/network/[USER_ID]/[TAGS_TO_SEARCH]/?
mutual=true

... to search only mutual friends/fans in the network.

I think I'll try StumbledUpon or BlueDot. I've heard good things 
about both of them. It takes forever with delicious :(
