MARKET TODAY

Market is likely to open flat to positive note following yesterday's
profit-taking and mixed to negative global cues. Yesterday Nifty has
tested 3000 mark during the day while the Sensex went closer to 9700
level but could not hold at higher levels as profit booking dragged
the market. Finally, the Sensex was up 47 points to close at 9,471 and
the Nifty was flat at 2,938. However volatility will remain high ahead
of the derivative contracts expiry for March on Thursday, 26 March
2009. As per reports, rollover of Nifty positions from March 2009
series to April 2009 was around 50% as on Tuesday, 24 March 2009.

According to data released by the NSE, in the last session, FIIs were
net buyers of index futures to the tune of Rs 371.18 crore while sold
index options worth Rs 77.53 crore. They were net sellers of stock
futures to the tune of Rs 98.46 crore while bought stock options worth
Rs 7.85 crore.
