Let us know when you enter the 1990's :p I use OpenOffice on Windows at work (on my workstation, work laptop is YDL'ed iBook) - Windows doesn't exclude you from using OSS software, or even non-Microsoft software.
Much as I dislike it happening, Java is becoming more and more important in the world beyond the browser, and for that we need Sun's Java. gcj/kaffe/etc may be noble attempts to clone it, but they're nowhere close, and often require app modification (gcj), rather than actually embodying write once, run anywhere.
