I agree, DTP has some advantages in certain aspects such as
concordance between articles and the automatic filing of new documents
based on the current filing system, but it does feel over-the-top for
simple notes and scribbles. I use my DTP in the same way as you, to
store a good sized repository of academic material (articles, etc) and
search results from Devon Agent (which is a great companion product
for your studies if you haven't tried it yet).

So as Ziv said, mainly passwords, software licenses, short notes to
myself, receipts, certain emails (e.g., maybe the order number for
something I ordered but haven't received yet).

By the way I was looking for a Quickpick for Apple Backup for Yojimbo
to save myself writing it myself. I found one here:

http://mac.sillydog.org/backup/yojimbo_backup.php

Useful for those who want an automated way of backing up their database.

Finally, I also licensed Cha-Ching this weekend. Check it out if
you're looking for a fresh finance manager for your mac. This isn't
your mothers Quicken... ;-) It's still in beta but I really is a nice
product.

Yojimbo is used for all the information I need, articles etc.
Yojimbo is doing a much better job then DT in those areas
