Hi, you got all the aspects correctly. The scripts are mainly from Knoppix and Kanotix and in some terms simplified for Yoper. So looking at KNOPPIX/KANOTIX is surely a good idea. At the following I just describe the idea, how I wanted to adress the problem. However if you do this task I am happy with whatever does work for the current scripts.
My idea was to get it stored in /etc/sysconfig/LOCALE + a setting in one file to tell some init script where to load the stuff from. The script to maintain localization should run from /etc/rcS.d . In the near future I wanted to have many small scripts in /etc/rcS.d rather than one large script. So I am going to redo them as well. I haven't yet written documentation about /etc/rc.d/init.d/functions. I'd appreciate if you use these subfunctions to display messages. ( RC_HINT , HINT etc ... ) whatever you need. So we get more and more to the point that all scripts have the same way to display their information. For any help drop a line and I am happy to help you out. cheers -- Tobias Gerschner Member of Board of Yoper Ltd. NZ Knowing is not enough; we must apply.
