2006/6/18, David Huffman <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>:
I am sorry to have been out of the picture for a while. Life has
gotten in the way. I am in the process of re-writing/copying over the
init scripts for rcS.d. I am trying to take the best from Ubuntu,
SuSE and Redhat, as well as not to forget what is required for Yoper.

Man, I completely forgot you're working on this as well. I am glad
about it :). Less work for me ;) .
Currently the boot or initialization scripts are combined into just
two scripts. I am attempting to separate out all of the contents into
individual scripts based on their function. This will allow for a
more organized and easier to maintain init system. I would not want
to slow down the progress of YIS, so the work is independent of YIS.

The only thing that I want to be sure is that the init scripts are
also capable to run from a live CD. If you need help on this part just
raise your hand.

I just want to let others know I am working on this so that there is
not redundant work going on. For now I am only focusing on rcS.d. If
you have specific guidelines you would want to follow Tobias, please
let me know. Basically, my goal is to be LSB-compliant. But because
Yoper will always use a 2.6+ kernel, I am taking out some legacy code
that is no longer necessary. (Most other init scripts are full of 2.4
specific stanzas)

How about you just give me some sort of heads up, when you think
somebody else should take a look at your code. It's just about 4 eyes
seeing more than 2 ;) .

cheers
