You are not updated. You first need to update the AutoUpdater. The original one does not see the new type of updaters used. Download this updater: <http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/2/5/225159a4-8331-415c-99ef-33cd5a 966f8a/AutoUpdate-211UpdateEN.dmg> You should be able to see the 12.1.1 updater after installing it. Since you are having problems, you might want to drag your Office 2008 folder to the trash and delete it, THEN re-install. Follow the directions here. I have screenshots to show each step.
