I might have missed it, but did it work in a new Identity in your regular User? This would eliminate any preferences that are actually stored in the database rather than in the Library/Preferences folder. The next step would be to test the preferences in your User's folder. This is a bet more troublesome to test. You can start with the Microsoft preferences, but it could be an Apple prefs.
