I would say it's most likely hardware related.

RAM
Logic board
Bad drive

If you have an external drive that you could boot from, this would eliminate
your drive as a source of the problem.

Another option would be to create a new User in System Preferences and run
from that to eliminate everything in your User's folder, but it's sounding
more like hardware issues to me.

If it is hardware, it will eventually hit everything. Entourage is like the
canary in the mine shaft. It seems to be more sensitive and is often the
first application to indicate there is a problem.

Do you have SuperDuper? You could create a clone of your internal drive for
testing. This would give you an exact setup minus the drive.
