I'm the person who recommended Weibetech devices to Roger. I've been using
several of them (probably more than a dozen) for years, at home and at work.
Never had a problem.

I have had problems with cheaper external drives. Especially LaCie units,
which I now refuse to buy or recommend.

The vendors all buy drives from the same sources. But there is variation in
the quality of the power supplies, and the thermal designs of the cases.
LaCie has had problems with power supplies for years.
