Hi, well. First: no, i don't have any usb cable or something like that. i plug my usb dongle on the backside of my computer right into the usb hub which is mounted directly on the motherboard. Second: I applied the patch and recompiled the kernel + zd1211rw module using ZD1211_DEBUG=y.
If i try to connect to my AP i get the following: <----------- snip -----------> [14:09 So Jun 11] [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/src/2.6.17-rc4-mm3/zd1211/zd1211_2006-06-07$ ifconfig eth0 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 00:11:E2:02:XX:XX inet addr:192.168.2.155 Bcast:192.168.2.255 Mask:255.255.255.0 UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1 RX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:0 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000 RX bytes:0 (0.0 b) TX bytes:0 (0.0 b) lo Link encap:Local Loopback inet addr:127.0.0.1 Mask:255.0.0.0 UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436 Metric:1 RX packets:15 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0 TX packets:15 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0 RX bytes:1212 (1.1 Kb) TX bytes:1212 (1.1 Kb) [14:09 So Jun 11] [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/src/2.6.17-rc4-mm3/zd1211/zd1211_2006-06-07$ iwconfig lo no wireless extensions. eth0 802.11g zd1211 ESSID:"WLAN" Mode:Managed Frequency:2.442 GHz Access Point: 00:03:C9:A3:XX:XX Bit Rate=11 Mb/s Encryption key:XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XX Security mode:restricted Link Quality=93/100 Signal level=76/100 Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0 Tx excessive retries:0 Invalid misc:0 Missed beacon:0 [14:09 So Jun 11] [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/src/2.6.17-rc4-mm3/zd1211/zd1211_2006-06-07$ ping 192.168.2.1 PING 192.168.2.1 (192.168.2.1) 56(84) bytes of data. ping: sendmsg: Operation not permitted --- 192.168.2.1 ping statistics --- 1 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 0ms <----------- snip -----------> If i scan for APs i get the following: <----------- snip -----------> [14:07 So Jun 11] [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/usr/src/2.6.17-rc4-mm3/zd1211/zd1211_2006-06-07$ iwlist eth0 scanning eth0 Scan completed : Cell 01 - Address: 00:03:C9:A3:XX:XX ESSID:"WLAN" Protocol:IEEE 802.11bg Mode:Master Channel:7 Encryption key:on Bit Rates:1 Mb/s; 2 Mb/s; 5.5 Mb/s; 6 Mb/s; 9 Mb/s 11 Mb/s; 12 Mb/s; 18 Mb/s; 24 Mb/s; 36 Mb/s 48 Mb/s; 54 Mb/s Quality=100/100 Signal level=100/100 Extra: Last beacon: 315ms ago Cell 02 - Address: 00:03:C9:A3:XX:XX ESSID:"<hidden>" Protocol:IEEE 802.11bg Mode:Master Channel:7 Encryption key:on Bit Rates:1 Mb/s; 2 Mb/s; 5.5 Mb/s; 6 Mb/s; 9 Mb/s 11 Mb/s; 12 Mb/s; 18 Mb/s; 24 Mb/s; 36 Mb/s 48 Mb/s; 54 Mb/s Quality=100/100 Signal level=100/100 Extra: Last beacon: 61ms ago <----------- snip -----------> The AP uses a hidden essid which is just "WLAN".
