Cynthia, What you chant doesnt make any difference. Nonsense syllables are best so you wont be tempted to try to think about what they mean while youre chanting. There should be no intent behind chanting. You chant to chant. Just like you sit (zazen) to sit. There should be no intent, no motive, no goal, nothing to understand.
