I too was thinking to throw that dog a a bone and address this in terms
of survival, but other creatures gatherings are not greed, their
aggressions are not hatred. They do not suffer these self-imposed
burdens. We project these onto them, and other people - whose actions we
judge based on our own failings and fears - to redefine and reinforce
our sense of self. The very same survival mechanism, lying to itself
about this - aka delusion.
