Joe, you're right of course, but if all someone is concerned about is gain or 
loss of money I'm not sure how 'selfless' they can be anyway.

Maybe you could 'balance' your books by creating for every monetary debit entry 
a compassion credit entry.  Kind of like the concept of karma.

Of course if you're giving something away expecting something in return then 
you as about as far from 'selfless' as you can get...Bill!
