Good question. Universal life force is just energy. The Chinese label
of "chi" just means energy. It is detectable by instruments. We have
several PhD who are scientists specializing in "chi" within our body,
can detect the chi. (i.e. full lotus enables the chi to flow twice as
fast as half lotus, I was told) The simple way to experience chi is to
visit an acupuncturist. It has been in the Chinese culture for few
thousand years.
All energy contains some frequency, they are the "wisdom". When
frequencies match then messages are received.
To me, Chan is quite scientific. I trust Edgar is on the same
wavelength. The world runs on engery. It is the essence of everything.
The key to unlock Chan.
Chan is also quite holistic. Chan is the essence of everything, visible
and invisible. If our practice is limited by "labels" and "logic", then
this practice is incomplete. Then practitioners is limited by knowledge
and can not experience the true essence of the universe.
Everything in the sutra, in the world, in every moment can be
witnessed. We just have to abandon our mind COMPLETELY.
* Be fearless, as per Heart Sutra.
* Xinxinming said it, "no pick or choose".
* Diamond sutra said, "(completely) surrender our mind. Heart dwells
no where."
* Diamond sutra said, "(absolutely) no attachment to dharma... include
diamond sutra."
Just open our heart and experience. Just practice, you shall witness.
