Both Merle and the woman in the video threw the question back at the questioner and asked the questioner to look it up. I spent hours researching Volcanic eruptions and studying the Keeling chart and the Vostok ice cores and when I asked Merle to show me her evidence for "warming" she refused and asked me to do it myself. Yes I see that CO2 has been increasing since 1958. Is there any evidence that the average global temperature has increased as well? It should be easy to find. The ice core indicated a 1.1 degree increase for every 10 ppmv increase in atmospheric CO2. Has that happened? Anyway, this is all pointless other than as an exercise in use of internet resources. So if I stop questioning and just accept what I'm being told then we can all go back to our caves. You might be right that humans only contribute a small part to global warming and that natural forces play a substantially larger role. But it's quite clear that humans are chopping down huge swathes of old growth forests, polluting drinking water, causing the salt to destroy land thru using up the water table, acid rain etc etc. I wouldn't say Merle is like the woman who cried "Communist!" but didn't know what it meant. Regarding global warming, I would say Merle is like most of us who wouldn'tbe able to accurately state the difference between a communist and socialist.
