Suresh,

It's very good to see you here. This is "Joe", in Arizona, USA. I am a Zen
practitioner, and practice Zen methods, but I am also a Yoga teacher, and I
once practiced in Sri Ramana Maharshi's tradition, whom you mentioned.

If you spend time outside your house and temporarily away from the kids -- say,
at a Workplace during some part of the day -- then perhaps it is also possible
to get away once a week or so, to go to a Zen center. There it would be
possible to practice in more ideal conditions. You could learn the methods of
zen practice, and practice them deeply at the zen center, with the help of a
teacher.

Else, I suppose an Ashram or temple would be a good place to sit quietly. In
earlier days, I would sometimes sit in an area of a library at Columbia
University, deep underground about 3 or 4 stories, a place called "the Stacks",
where almost no one ever passed through. It was completely silent in that very
noisy City, and I could hear the blood circulating in the body and ears, as
well as some of the Yogic sounds, the Nadi, etc. I practiced Zazen, there, an
empty form of meditation, using no mantra, nor etc. But I was able to practice
at home, too, and the distractions of city noise, I think, helped to make
practice very strong by making concentration strong, and very, very deeply
relaxed.

I hope you can find a Zen center, and a "baby-sitter", occasionally!

Wishing you strong practice,

--Joe
