But what about false guru books?  What then?  How are you to know if a guru you 
meet in person or his writings are false or not?

I've always heard the zen saying: 'Even the most talented zen master (guru) 
cannot enlighten an insincere student, but a sincere student can be enlightened 
by even a false zen master.'
