It does not follow logically, but I'll let Edgar worry about that.

But it's not bad.  We could as well say: "I am, therefore I ride my bicycle".  
Descartes looked for what he could not DOUBT, and for what followed from the 
fact that he was thinking.  He always found himself thinking (because he set 
himself to); from that he deduced that he exists.

(there may be more steps you're leaving out.  Old Descartes would not settle 
for it; I mean, as you notice, he did not; I don't say your saying should be 
like his, though.  I wonder what an awakened person would say instead of what 
Descartes said, to your mind).
