I sense that we are all on the same page about this. It was
intellectually sloppy of me to refer to all that historical striving as
"Zen", but I sense a CONTINUITY there, which leads me to the careless
usage of the term Zen to include the whole process.
I also think you are absolutely correct to identify FIRE as an important
factor in the evolution of human consciousness.
