Merle,
I may roll the dice on his writing again.
His painting is great, but I found him lacking and lack-luster as a wordsmith,
although he used a lot of them (words). A good exercise for me to read him in
Spanish, though!, on a long bus trip in Chile, 1983.
If I have the same reaction(s) as the first time I read him in English, I'll
email you privately exactly why, and will tell you what he could have done
better. ;-)
